It is not a peaceful time in the Dells. The young King Nash clings to his throne while rebel lords in the north and south build armies to unseat him. The mountains and forests are filled with spies and thieves and lawless men.
This is where Fire lives. With a wild, irresistible appearance and hair the color of flame, Fire is the last remaining human monster. Equally hated and adored, she had the unique ability to control minds, but she guards her power, unwilling to steal the secrets of innocent people. Especially when she has so many of her own.
Then Prince Brigan comes to bring her to King City, The royal family needs her help to uncover the plot against the king. Far away from home, Fire begins to realize there's more to her power than she ever dreamed. Her power could save the kingdom.
If only she weren't afraid of becoming the monster her father was.
My Review:
I loved Fire! Kristin Cashore is a brilliant writer who throws you into this spellbinding wonderful world and makes you never want to leave.
Fire is the last remaining human monster. With her vibrant and unnatural hair color, an indicator of her monster status, she lives in a world where she is both hated and loved because of her unique power to control minds. When Prince Brigan comes to take her to King City to help uncover the plot against the king, she comes to realize there be more to her power then she ever dreamed. Her power could save the King’s Kingdom, if only she wasn’t afraid of becoming like her father.
Eek! I swear that woman Kristin sure can get me hooked to her stories. How she comes up with this stuff I will never know but I hope to see more and more of it. Fire is a great book. I had so much sympathy for Fire because so many people hated her. She couldn’t help it that she could read minds. She also couldn’t help that she was beautiful that all the men wanted her.
This book was just as amazing as Graceling and I vote that people
who are monsters to read it.
Watch Out for: Fantasy violence, torturing, assassinations, non-graphic rape, murder, and a bit of love.
