Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn’t think she’s the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She’s also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her “the Duff,” she throws her Coke in his face.

But things aren’t so great at home right now, and Bianca is desperate for a distraction. She ends up kissing Wesley. Worse, she likes it. Eager for escape, Bianca throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with him.

Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out Wesley isn’t such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she’s falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone.

My Review:

I shouldn’t have read this after I watched the movie, it always ruins it for me. The movie is freaking hilarious. I seriously laughed my head off.

The book however was messy, meaning it was all over the place. There were some entertaining parts, annoying parts, and just  overall mixed messages.

Bianca, as Wesley Rush informs her, is the designated, ugly, fat, friend. Who I might add, has many insecurities being a teenager. She has plenty of issues at home with a mother who is absent most of the time and a dad who is a recovering alcoholic. I found her to be annoying and rude.

But this is when things get weird.Wesley, the jerk who calls her the DUFF, ends up making out and sleeping with Bianca. THIS SOOOO DID NOT HAPPEN IN THE MOVIE!! And then it just goes down from there.

Watch the movie! That at least had meaning and a decent plot. This was crap. Not a fan!

Watch Out For:Explicit sexual content, explicit language, drinking, partying, and mild violence.
